15 Oct Website
My website is up and running and you’d think it would…just…go. But, no. It’s kind of like a watch: all gears and motion underneath and in the background. There are tweaks to be made. I learn about parallax, google grabs, SEOs, jetpack tools, Favicon images, and the difference between categories and tags. I email Eric questions, and he is patient.
A few friends email praise for the website and I am grateful for how it has all come together.
From Christine Robbins – a well-published poet and friend (check out her latest poem “Concessions for the earthbound” at The Georgia Review! HERE) : “Uhm, Jill, I don’t want to sound over-the-top and it’s hard to separate my love for you with my enthusiasm, but I think that’s the most beautiful author website I’ve ever seen anywhere in my whole life.”
From Lila – a librarian and book nerd friend: “Jill, your website looks so professional. It has class. And beautiful design. It’s so you! And your blog is so interesting – I love following the publication process. Great job!”
From my son, Joren, who is in the video/3-D/Motion Graphics business: “Wow!! That’s really awesome!! Super nice mom, look pro and sleek and polished and other words like that. That guy did a really, really good job. Nice work!”
From my editor, Christine Stroud, at Autumn House Press: “Wow, Jill, very cool. I love the layout and the colors! I can’t wait until we have a cover for your book to post on it!”
So, once again, thank you to Eric. Not just for building this site, but for helping me to be comfortable using it. And now, that the website is up and running, I’m off to do other things. My to-do list is plenty long, but I’m very happy that I can now cross off
BUY, DESIGN, BUILD a WEBSITE. Yup. I crossed that baby off the list with a grateful sigh.
