11 Jan Short-Listed Sarton Literary Award
The news just came out! So Many Africas has been short-listed by the May Sarton Liteary Awards committee. Check it out!
What does that mean? As simple as it sounds. Short-listed: to be put on a short list.
The May Sarton Literary Awards are giving three awards this year. One in memoir, one in historical fiction, and one in contemporary fiction.
There are three books short-listed for the memoir. Here’s the scoop.
Congratulations to my two fellow short-listed memoir writers
- Kathryn Ferguson, author of The Haunting of the Mexican Border, U. of New Mexico Press
- Leah Lax, author of Uncovered: How I Left Hasidic Life and Finally Came Home, She Writes Press.
The winners, in each genre, will be announced on April 15-17, 2016
at the Story Circle Network 8th Women’s Writing Conference in Austin, Texas
I first heard about this award through a librarian friend, Lila. Who, incidentally, was the same Lila who long ago helped me join my first ever writing club. Lila. Thank you dear friend! You continue to play a significant role in my writing life.
I know what it takes to write a book. I wish we all could win. Congratualtions all around! And thank you to everyone involved at Story Circle!
