Short-Listed Sarton Literary Award

Capture, Sarton Award

The news just came out! So Many Africas has been short-listed by the May Sarton Liteary Awards committee. Check it out!

What does that mean? As simple as it sounds. Short-listed: to be put on a short list.

The May Sarton Literary Awards are giving three awards this year. One in memoir, one in historical fiction, and one in contemporary fiction.

There are three books short-listed for the memoir. Here’s the scoop.

Congratulations to my two fellow short-listed memoir writers

The winners, in each genre, will be announced on April 15-17, 2016

at the Story Circle Network 8th Women’s Writing Conference in Austin, Texas

I first heard about this award through a librarian friend, Lila. Who, incidentally, was the same Lila who long ago helped me join my first ever writing club. Lila. Thank you dear friend! You continue to play a significant role in my writing life.

I know what it takes to write a book. I wish we all could win. Congratualtions all around! And thank you to everyone involved at Story Circle!

Hi Linda, thank you! The best thing about shortlists and awards is that more people might hear about the book. People don’t read what they don’t know! It’s great to see some more open doors.

Any award you get is well-deserved, Jill! I hope you’ll be getting good news soon. Meanwhile, how do we nominate your librarian friend Lila for Hero Librarian of the Year?

I love it! Lila: Librarian of the Year! I did a little digging and found out that that award actually exists, believe it or not!! The nominations were due in November of 2015 for the coming year.
      Librarian of the Year!
