03 Sep Ready to Burst
I am not supposed to tell anyone about winning the contest. The fiction and poetry judges haven’t made their final choices yet. There will be three prizes given out, one for each category. If people who have sent in poetry hear that the creative nonfiction award is final then Autumn House Press will be inundated with questions. They don’t want that to happen.
So I tell my husband and do a little dance. And I tell my kids and dance some more. I cannot stop smiling. But it is very odd to have this happiness and keep it to myself.
Happiness is meant to fling out at the world. It’s not as fun when it sits inside your head ready to burst.
