News Grabs

On Saturday the Minneapolis Star Tribune did a wonderful review of my book, So Many Africas: Six Years in a Zambian Village. And then this weird thing happened that I kind of know about but really don’t. Another website grabbed the info. and linked to it. And then another. And then another.

It’s kind of crazy and fascinating to watch a story spread. Don’t bother clicking on all the links, unless you are uber curious. They are not New Stories. They do not add or take away any information. They all link back to the Star Tribune.

Over the weekend I was been grabbed by:

1. News and Search Aggregator WOPULAR
Capture, Wopular

2. World News outlet

Capture, WN SMALL

3. News site under “Zambian News” at TOPIX

Capture, TOPIX

Capture Amsterdam Press Grab

6.  Top 99 News

Capture, Top 99 News

7. And finally: Abomus News
Capture, Abomus News

8. Schema-Root

Capture, Schema Review

I find the Abomus News the funniest.  On the same page are a couple dozen links. There’s a $775,000 watch story, Rollar Coasters Make a Comeback, Diane Nyad’s Final Attempt At a Record-Breaking Swim, and Kim Kardashian. I don’t know if I should be insulted or flattered. Probably, neither. It is what it is.

So that’s my news (grab) of the day. Amsterdam. Indonesia. Zambia. The U.S. I didn’t really know that one news station grabbed another’s news. Now I do.
