Today the most famous Dairy Queen in America opens its doors, once again. It’s tradition.  Never mind that March 1st can be twenty below. People show up by the hundreds to stand outside and eat ice cream.

Our D.Q. is the old-fashioned kind, with a walk-up window, and no indoor seating. Are we crazy? Just a little bit. After a long winter. And so we come out to celebrate, spring is on the way. Winter’s almost over. And that my friends, up north, is worth celebrating. Even if a little premature!

It’s tradition. It’s fun. It’s a long standing part of our Fargo/Moorhead Culture.

It’s 14 degrees outside right now. It might warm up to the low 20s today.

Don’t forget your mittens. And hat. And coat.

But not to worry, no matter what you are wearing, everyone around you will be wearing a smile.

It’s a great Dairy Queen! Went there many times. Wasn’t there a DQ near the swimming pool in V.C.? Stopped there often too.

Hi David, Yes there was a D.Q. near the pool. It’s still there. I stopped in last summer. It’s nice, but more of a franchise now with indoor seating. The Moorhead DQ retains much of its original charm, which I love.
