Certifiably A-OK

It’s a challenge to condense a 200 page book into a one and a half minute video. I’ve been working on converting old 8mm film into digital format and I also scanned nine hundred thousand documents. (Rare, old, and hysterical) I found a bright yellow document from Germany that certifiably states my husband, “is not suffering from trachoma, leprosy, dysentery, acute epilepsy, insanity, nor any other disease likely to endanger public health.”

And aren’t I glad to know it!?I found our old vaccination records: Cholera? Yup. Small pox? Yup. Yellow Fever? No prob. I’m most likely one of the most vaccinated people in the entire world.

I found my husband’s “Zambian Alien Registration Card” and my international Dutch Driver’s License. Cool. A letter from the Office of the President of Zambia as well as a Security Clearance paper from the Headquarters of the Western Region, Zambia Army. I have a Certificate of Registration (Produce this certificate if required to do so by any Police Officer or Immigration Officer) from the Home Office, Lunar House, Wellesley Road, Croydon, U.K. Again: very cool!

It was quite the scan down memory lane.

I found a yellow certificate from Germany for my son, Joren, also. It says the same things about him as it did about my hubby. I’m so relieved. Since I am now sure he’s not contagious, clinically insane, or harboring anything which will upset the biological balance of the world, well, I’m quite sure now that he will do just fine making me a book trailer. Can’t wait to see it!

And all those times I visited I didn’t ask to see any proof of health or sanity. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Yes, next time you come: ASK! I shall pull out the proof in living color.
